New Router Won't Accept Direct Internet

So I purchased a new router, as the existing one was playing up, freezing, needing resets and such and I am ashamed of buying it as it's a no-name chinese brand router which I probably can't track down but has a basic configuration menu shown here http://puu.sh/jaUI7/02b67bb023.pngAnyhow, I tried connecting the internet cable (WAN) I guess it's called into the new modem. After further investigation, it appears this new router, the Tplink TL-WDR3600 does not accept PPPOA connections, the ones my ISP (Orcon) gave to me, only PPPOE. The list is shown here http://puu.sh/jaUMm/04d9c93f8d.png So, for the meanwhile as I am looking to eliminate the old wireless router from my setup, I am running the internet through the modem as usual and broadcasting wifi and connecting ethernet into the new modem. I don't think I have the ideal method in doing this either - I simply turned off wifi on my old modem and only enabling wifi broadcasting on my new one, I'm not sure if that's the best way of doing it. I have an ethernet cable coming out of the old modem going to the new modems WAN port. However, I still experience freezing and lag now and again but in less frequency which is why I want to eliminate the old white router. Is there any possible thing I can do to just remove this crappy Tenda chinese modem out of my setup and have it directly pass through my new router (TL-WDR3600)? I think I could be doing something wrong, I've said the most I could without being a tech genius. I have access to all of my PPPOA information from my old router. Thanks a lot, if you need any more information to help me out and try eliminate this router please let me know.
