Super Slow Internet speed from Router

I have been trying for months to try to get some resolution to slow internet speed.I had thought is was an issue with my internet provider (slingshot) and / or the line.Slingshot mucked around with settings at their end (which made it worse and then changed them back again) and then sent a technicial (Chorus) around. He said that he has a fiddle at the exchange and tested the speed coming into the router at 4mb or so.The speed tests that I have been doing (slingshot and also speedtest.net) show speeds of around 2mb but often falls below 1mb and today it is anywhere from .03mb (!!!) to .45mb (!).I tried getting some advise from the chorus technician but he said everything was ok from what he could see.I sent several emails to the support from my router manufacturer, but they were no help either.I have a TP-Link wireless N ADSL2 router that is 8 months old and am told this is a fairly good model.Speeds do not seem to increase even when plugged directly into the router. We have two mobile phones hooking into the wireless and two laptops, but never have them all going and the tests I did this morning were only with the one laptop connected. We also have a smart tv but this is not connected to the router as the speeds make streaming way too painful waiting for rendering.Does anyone have any suggestions as to what may be the problem, or if not, suggest a good company or person who can call out to investigate for me (I live in Avondale in Auckland).ThanksWayne
