Hi there guys.I picked up a cheap old Core 2 Duo unit second hand for $20 minus the HDD, and RAM.My plan for it is to set it up, with 1gb of memory, and an 80gb hdd, and my plan for it at the moment, as I want to set it up as a VPN server, so that when I'm out of Auckland, or away from home I can log into my home network from wherever in the country I am, and use my devices on the network, for example my Dreambox DM500, so I can watch TV remotely without having to invest over $100 for a slingbox, and other stuff. What Software, do you recommend. I have an old copy of Server 2003, laying around, and I have tried that however I haven't used the VPN configuration there, is years, so I would need a refresher on how to do it so I thought I'd look at other alternatives for now.I was thinking, that having a Linux/Unix based Operating system, or VPN software, would be perfect in this situation, providing it's not too complicated to set up. I'm not interested in, setting wireless on on the project I'm doing, as I have a wireless modem for that.I'm just keen on setting up a VPN Sever, to I can log onto my network remotely. If only DD-WRT could work on that computer, it would be more or less perfect. Only problem is, is that it's a fairly nice desktop, I think it would be a waste, but I would consider it if it was my only reasonable option.Has anybody got any suggestions? Thanks
