Fritzbox 7490 -> Grandstream GWN7000 = Not-so-grand-stream

Hello everyone,

Long time observer, first time caller.

I am having some performance issues with my new Grandstream GWN7000 and hoping the collective mind-hive of Geekzone can help me so no-one else is taking the precious mbits of my 2degrees Ultimate Unlimited, sorta-gigabit connection.

Backing up the the truck a little, a couple of 4 weeks back, I decided that as a reward for the FritzBox 7490 for its long standing service and reliablity, I would let it gracefully retire to a box on the shelve. Thanks to the 40% off sale at Go Wifi (h/t to @GarryP) for Black Friday and some of the recommendations from around here, I now own a Grandstream GWN7000 and two GWN 7600s.These suckers seem to be fantastic little units for the price, and I have had no real reliability issues (well, that I didn't cause).

However, I have gone from around 700-900 mbits/sec down with the Fritz to around 300 mbits/sec to now around 100mbits/sec as I sit and write this. I have also spoken to 2degrees Tech Support and the connection is provisioned for Gigabit correctly, so it is somewhere over my side of the light fence.

Here is some nperf tests I prepared earlier (Wifi disabled, cat5e straight to the router, latest Intel 218 NIC drivers):

29th November:

To Today:

I have also tried firmware upgrades for the router (on 1.0.6.28 BETA, n/c between stable and beta), different computers connected to the router, various config settings, but no cake. DPI is not enabled either. Up and down QoS is enabled and set to advertised line speeds (500 up, 900 down); tried turning it off but n/c.

Now, all that said, I have no ACTUAL noticable speed issues (stream everything, multiple devices using WiFi etc), buuuutttttt....... gigabit...... I want it......

Plus, I also want to get out in front of this in case it goes south and I have to formally explain to the Finance committee why the expensive, messy, time consuming solution is working worse than the free, stable, alien-looking one.

I work in IT, so assume that I have missed all the basic steps because I think I am so much better than average user at this and have probably made things worse with my tinkering.

Help?

Also, if anyone has managed to get one of these correctly setup with IPv6, let me know what your config is, as I seem to have got as far as getting a link-local address and that is it.

Thanks in advance, and Happy New Year!
