Hello, I have a vodafone HG659 for my vodafone VDSL connection and am trying to find the best way to get wireless to the granny flat that is attached to the house , but 1 floor up on top of the garage. I have tried powerline (dlink av500) but the flat has the same power as the house but has its own circuit board . When I plug the powerline in upstairs it connects but continuously drops the internet connection on the HG659. If I try plugging in on the houses side of the power , it will hold the connection for a while but then drops out fairly regularly . If the power line is not used the connection is solid and doesn't drop out .I have tried to get an old netcomm nb604n working as an access point , by following similar ish post from here. I can get it to work , but it then fails after ri attempt and the ip goes to 169... etc. There may be a way to set this particular netcomm up properly but I am unable to without more information.I know using an old router as an access point is problematic at best , but for me $ is a factor .I am happy for this to be an ok setup with occasional reboots etc .But if there is no reliable way to get this setup , what is the best choice $ wise for a purpose built access point .I plan to run ethernet (25m) to the new access point or the old netcomm.(the house is an old lockwood , old wiring ) Thanks LH
