Sorry if this is not the correct forum. Couldn't quite figure out where to slot this. My 3 year and 1 week old Synology 1815+ appears to have died. It's been running sweet with 4x RED 6TB drives in Raid and 1x RED 10TB standalone. Added another 1x10TB drive about 6 days ago and it initialised and played nicely. I primarily use it as for media storage and Kodi playback around the home network. Went away on Friday for a weekend, came back Sunday night and it's cold and dead. No lights, won't power up at all. Pulled the plug, put it back in - just nothing. Read lots online last night about that model ( and a few others ) having Intel Atom CPU issues as well as lots of them bricking due to power supply failure and Synology giving them an extra year of warranty as a result etc. Is there any definitive way for me to establish what is wrong with it, without taking it apart ? I've contacted the vendor where it was purchased from in NZ and asked them if they will consider it as a warranty fix. Still waiting to hear. The fact it died a week after adding another drive leads me to think the PSU may have been on the edge and the extra load may have pushed it over ? But..not knowing lots about PSU's this may be completely wrong J I am planning to remove the drives tonight and see if I can get it to boot without them in it.. Cheers for your thoughts
