I have recently upgraded my wifi modem/router to the Telecom Technicolor TG582n and have been very pleased with the improvement over my old Telecom Thomson (no drop outs, better range, easy to use GUI). I have added a WD 1TB external HDD to the USB port of the TG582n to act as a file and UPnP AV Media server, filled it up with movies (.mp4's and .avi's) and it sends these seamlessly to my WD TV Live in the bedroom, and to my Windows Vista laptop anywhere else in the house. Perfect!I also have an iPhone 4s and an iPad New, for which I downloaded VLC Streamer. No problem seeing the files on my server from either, but cannot get any movies to stream smoothly to either ios device. Buffers for an incredibly long time, plays a jerky sound impaired picture, pauses while it buffers again etc.Have tried placing the ios devices within a couple of feet of the wifi modem but no improvement.I looked for alternative App. Store software but the others I found such as AirPlayit, Air Video and StreamToMe all require (as I understand it) for the server to be your PC, with the software installed on that as well - which defeats me from having all my video files on the TG582n.Is my inability a limitation of the TG582n that is not going to be resolved if I keep this as my wifi modem? (I really like what it does with everything else but the ios devices!)Look forward to hearing from anyone who may have some idea of how I can improve things.
