Hi all, I appreciate I'm asking for a bit of spoon feeding here but, I recently moved into a new house, we get somewhat frequent internet dropouts and some background noise on the phone. The house 5 jackpoints (completely unnecessary for us) and a monitored alarm which is not currently monitored and unlikely to be in the near future. I've looked under the house and some of the joins seem a bit... diy Recently, we had underfloor insulation installed and 2 of the jacks stopped working altogether (4&5 pictured below) as we had existing issues with the connection I wasn't prepared to take this up with the installers, especially as we had no need for those jacks.We have telecoms wiring maintenance service however this does not cover if the installation is not up to spec, nor if the connection is damaged by builders etc, and so I am considering if its worth getting someone out to check it out when I could end up having to pay anyway.The end result I'm after is a solid connection on 2 or even 1 jackpoint, whilst spending little to no money. I'm keen to get in there and have a go myself assuming it's appropriate to do so, and I have access to the correct tools.The etp is at roof height and I haven't looked closely at it, the cable comes from there down to ground and into the Saturn box (s) from a previous installation. Only 1 pair is connected at this point to the cable going into the house, Q1: I understand this to mean there cannot be a master splitter, is this correct?Q2: if connect a new cable at the etp, and run this straight to my chosen socket, thus isolating all other sockets and the alarm, will this cause any problems with my alarm or anything else??Q3: is there anything I should know or is it as easy as it looks?Q3b: is there a good day home wiring FAQ somewhere that relates to nz?Thanks for reading my rambling
