Please help me understand star wiring configuration!

We're looking at building a new house and obviously the networking in a new home is set up inside the home distributor box.The area doesn't have fibre yet, but can it still be set up so that a normal ADSL2+ modem is installed in the box, which then feeds Internet throughout the house? My first thoughts are to set it up this way, connect most things (iMac, Roku, Xbox 360, etc) through wired connections, then just use wireless for phones, iPad, etc.If it can be done this way, how would a wireless router be set up? Would it just connect from any Ethernet port in the house?Currently I have a modem in bridge mode connected to the router, can this kind of set up still be maintained from within a home distributor box?
