Hi guys newbie to this but taking up a new hobby.I am in the middle of renovating my house. 4 bedroom 2 lounge.I would like to install a rack that would house my patch panel switch and other items. I would like to know what type of patch panels and switch i should buy.My household does alot of network use. Copying files, Large data files, Streaming video SD and HD.I have ipads and iPhones and laptops that will need to be permanently connected to WiFi. I have computers tvs and gaming consoles along with my apple tv and last but not least i also have my CCTV DVR that will need to be connected via cable or WiFi.The master bedroom will have 4 cat5e or cat6 plus 2 Coaxial cables which will be put into wallplates. I will have another 2 cat5e or cat6 cables run to beside the bed also.In every other room (which will be 3 bedrooms) i will have 2 cat5e or cat6 cables plus 2 coaxial cables. Could possibly add more cat5e or cat6 since i have already purchased a box load.In each lounge i will have 4 cate5e or cat6 plus 2 coaxial cables. I was also thinking about have coaxial cables run to the hallway or dining area aswel.I was looking at the VGA over Cat5e and will probably get a couple of those so i can use them to transfer the signal from my CCTV dvr using the VGA output then over cat5e cable to my patch panel and out to any wall plate where i will have a tv connected via cat5e cable to vga adapter. Will this work?I was also looking at investing into a HDhomerun system those seem to be quite impressive. Any opinions on this? i think it would be great to be able to access live tv from any device on my network.Does anyone have any recommendations on network equipment i will need to handle the types of data my household use.
