Cat5 Termination for Home LAN

Hi all, This is my first post here but I have been using this sitefor quite some time and learnt a lot from the browsing the forums. So first-up,thanks J I have a question about my existing cat5 wiring at home. When we bought the house there was a pabx phone system which I am keen touninstall. I had a rush of blood to the head & decided to do this myself. The wiring is in a star configuration with a central krone block, and the cat5is terminated with rj45 ports. My plan is to replace the krone with an rj45 patch panel andthereafter patch either phone or data as required (my router is mounted on thesame wall as the krone block). I researched wiring configurations, but it would seem ourterminations are some sort of variation on the t586b standard. The port has aclear diagram for both 568a & 568b wiring however as you can hopefully seefrom the photo, the solid orange wire is at position 1, correlating with thecolour coding on the port (labeled as T568B although the photo is a bitobscured) " alt="">As far as I can tellis is different from the guidelines Ifound on the interwebs, all of which have white/orange stripe at pin 1 andorange at pin 2 for t568b. Is there any reason for this, and why would our ports all belabeled apparently incorrectly? Thanks again.
