We have a client with one of the above - latest firmware version. all good except:Guest Wireless network - changed the SSID and password, pressed save and let it do its thing. Tries to attach to guest network using samsung Galaxy - failed, apple iPhone, failed, Win7 laptop, failed, vista laptop failed. Around and around in circles I went. Main wireless network works. reset router, tried all settings again, factory reset, etc etc no success.Tried WPA2 TKIP and AES - nada. Phoned netgear - ( now onto my 7th call and am a very very very irate client for reasons you can read aobut below if you want to).suggested turn off password - guest network works. Tried WEP - worksTried WPA / WPA2 - fails.Long story cut short. I believe the firmware is not accepting the change in the password for WPA / WPA2. changes in the front end gui are not saved in the back end and I am stuck with the default password it came with (which I dont unfortunately know as I took no notice of it, putting my clients preferred password in).WEP works as the passwords are stored in a different field in the back end (but WEP is very hackable and windows 7 wont talk to it on my laptop).Blank password works for WPA / WPA2 as no check is made of the password fieldBlooming netgear are meant to be checking it but still havent a week later and want to charge me $40 to courier a router to me so my client can have a network connection while they take a week or so to dick around with the original. Can anyone else confirm or deny they have seen this on their router of this make, model and latest firmware version. If they have will jam the answer up netgears nose and tell them to pull finger and get a rpelacement router to me ASAP.Whinge ahead - stop reading if you want. Netgear - your support sucks - here is why. i am a commercial client - the group I work with have over 400 items of your equipment out there but we can only get support as a home customer as we are using a home router (albeitly not an entry level one).5 phone calls and conversations have wasted over $400 of my time and i am no closer to you hleping me.You dont phone back when you say you will.In the latest conversation you told me you phoned me twice on tuesday - my phone logs categorically show you didnt and when caught out in that lie you dont have the grace to apologise but instead fluff around and try to change topic. When I finally get through to a supervisor he tells me that he doesnt have a phone number or email for anyone higher up the chain than him. He cannot contact anyone else at netgear as he doesnt have emails or contact details. I did congratulate him on being the boss of netgear as everyone knows who their boss is and how to gt hold of them and the only one who cant is the CEO. I am spectacularly unimpressed at their solutions for furthering this "support" request. 1 - two more hours of travel and work to reflash the device with the same version of firmware (again!!)2 - Send the router back to netgear ( Auckland / Australia) and wait while they dick around with it figuring out if there is a problem and then maybe return it within a week, probably two, leaving my client without network / router / communications3 - Pay $40 for them to courier me a router to use in the short term at which point i will send up the faulty router for testing. Also I pay for couriering the faulty router back to them as wellThey dont have the decency to be embarrassed charging $40 for what would cost me $2-3 to do on the same courier company. The clown on the other end of the line told me it was all in the agrement i received when I bought the router. As I pointed out to him I am only bound by an agreement I sighted and agreed to BEFORE I purchased the router but it seems there is a bend over clause and permission for them to provide sloppy service in their standard warranty agreement. hmmm, that sound ruder than I intended. Are there any decent support services and routers out there anywhere? The microtik routers seem to be going well. so far......
