WDS bridging advice

HiI'd like to add a router to connect some wired devices on the other side of the house from my internet connection point, without running a network cable. If I were to purchase two TP-Link TL-WR1042ND routers and bridge one using WDS, would this do the trick? Also, I read somewhere that then using WDS, the DHCP should be disabled on the brigded router. With this config would the gigabit switch on the bridged router will peform direct gigabit networking between all wired devices connected to it, or will all networking be sent back to the primary router over the wifi and slow things down?Note: I don't need to extend my wifi, just get wired devices working. Are their any better ways to do this? Thanks!
