I have a Linksys WAG54GPv2 for my modem/router. I'm using VFX fusion with Xnet, and I'm using this as my ATA to plug in a standard cordless phone. I have two problems with the router at the moment: 1. When someone is online, and a call comes through, the call drops in and out. I've raised this issue with Maverick on the Xnet forum, and he's indicated that it's a problem with this particular model of router and the wireless QoS. The solution seems to be to get another wireless router. 2. Yesterday, my wife was watching a concert on her iPad, and her iPhone wouldn't connect to the wifi. We have a total of six wireless devices at home (two desktops, two iPhones, an iPad and a laptop), and it's not uncommon for all of them to be online at once. I tested the situation by disconnecting the laptop from the network, and her iPhone connected immediately. We had a similar situation a few weeks back when I was downloading the Windows 8 RTM iso on my desktop. It was thundering along at a cracking speed, but her laptop wouldn't connect. When I paused the download on my desktop, her laptop was able to connect, but as soon as I restarted the download, her laptop was bumped off the network. As I wrote this, I started to wonder whether problem #2 was related to IP conflicts, but the problem with the Windows download doesn't fit that pattern, and besides we still have the wireless QoS situation in problem #1. So I'm starting to look at getting a new router. The reason I'm hesitating is that UFB in our neighbourhood is scheduled for November 2012 (delayed from September), and I'll likely get hardware for UFB (either through Orcon or Snap). So I don't want to spend too much money on hardware I won't really need in a few months time. Can anyone recommend a good value-for-money router that I can use in conjunction with my current Linksys modem/router? I've been looking at the TP-Link WR1043ND, but I'm not sure how it would work with my current setup. Would I simply disable the wireless function on the Linksys and plug the TP-Link into an ethernet port on the Linksys, or is it more complicated than that?
