I've just installed cat6 cabling and an xdsl master filter to a patch panel in my roof space - so far so good and BB faster and phone clearer. However in one room I can only pull a single cable (I used the old phone line to pull through the data cable but there's not enough clearance to get a second cable through to allow me to re connect the phone).
So - my question - can I mix phone and data on the same cable?
My understanding is that only 2 of the four pairs are actually used to carry the data signal, with blue and brown unused. Therefore in theory I think I could remove the blue pair from the cat6 keystone and connect it to the phone jack, and do the same at the parch panel end.
Would what I've described work?
