Hello everyone. I have the Mitsubishi air-conditioning inverter. (SRK20ZR-S) And bought the Intesis Home wifi controller. Installed yesterday. And worked well. today the Intesis Home wifi controller, given a permanent place. The cable disconnected and connected again. And whatever I try, He does not want to work anymore. Pressed on the reset button (10 seconds). Blink green than constant green. That is all okay. But when I start the installation via the app. The green light, changes to red flashing. And does not stop. The wifi between the intensis and modem is very good.Who can help me

500mbps vs 1000mbps powerline adaptors vs mesh Wifi
I think it is time to upgrade my dated 200mbps power line adaptors (Netcomm NP204). They are ok for Netflix in SD and general use, but I find downloading files is still rather slow. If my main goal is only to carry the traffic to and from the 100mbps fibre broadband, would a 500-600 mbps power line adaptor with Gigabit port be good enough? or does one need a 1000+ mbps power line adaptor? I guess my question is, at 500-600 mbps, is the bottleneck with the power line adaptor, or is it with the Fibre? To get my three storey house covered I will probably need 4 power line units (some with Wifi broadcast). Therefore if I can use 500-600 mbps adaptors instead the more expensive 1000+ mbps units to save money, the saving will be quite substantial. While researching this topic I have come across a lot about mesh Wifi like google wifi and Amplifi. I wonder how they compare in real life to power line adaptors in a place where there are 15 different SSID from various neighbours.. I presume power line would still be a better option in this setting? Besides the mesh wifi setups are probably a bit too expensive for me.Any suggestions welcome.. Thanks

Blocking Android/iOS PUPG Game
I work for a small training organisation, and being rural we only have access to a rather slow ADSL connection. When students are on site they are consistently playing PUPG using the school WiFi provided, however, this is saturating the ADSL connection and brings general internet use grinding to a halt when staff need to get things done. Regardless, We don't want them having access to the game using school WiFi anyway as it has become a severe study distraction as of recent. The setup is very simple, Vigor 120, basic 24P switch and a couple Unifi AP'sI need to be able to block access to the game servers but haven't had any luck. From what I have found online, they use Amazon servers and address are dynamic, as well as the ports used. Don't want to go down the whitelisting option as its too restrictive.Anyone able to offer some insight on how to go about blocking this game in particular? Different hardware required?

Unable to RDP to a PC over the internet
I am trying to RDP to my PC over the internet however the connection is timing out because of no response from the remote device.*gasp* Yes, I'm aware this is pretty stupid but this is only a short term thing, in the long term I'll get a VPN set up but I'm happy to accept the risks for now.The router (Asus RT-AC58U) connects directly to the ONT while the PC I am trying to RDP to connected to one of the LAN ports on the router.I have a Gigabit UFB connection with Skinny. To the best of my knowledge Skinny are no longer using CG NAT as the WAN IP of my router is the same IP I get when I enter what's my IP on Google from my PC.I have configured Port Forwading/Destination PAT (WAN address:5555 --> 192.168.1.30:3389) as per below I tested on various port forward checking websites and it's showing the connection as closed/filtered. Troubleshooting done so far :- When an RDP connection is made from an external device on the internet, in this case from a 2degrees 4G connection, from the connection logs I can see on the Asus router, it appears to be allowing the inbound TCP connection as per belowOct 30 18:37:29 kernel: ACCEPT IN=ppp0 OUT=br0 MAC= SRC=118.148.x.x DST=192.168.1.30 LEN=64 TOS=0x00 PREC=0x00 TTL=248 ID=48485 DF PROTO=TCP SPT=11138 DPT=3389 SEQ=728927993 ACK=0 WINDOW=4380 RES=0x00 SYN URGP=0 OPT (020405AC010303030101080AC3B100AB0000000004020000) Oct 30 18:37:32 kernel: ACCEPT IN=ppp0 OUT=br0 MAC= SRC=118.148.x.x DST=192.168.1.30 LEN=64 TOS=0x00 PREC=0x00 TTL=248 ID=2910 DF PROTO=TCP SPT=11138 DPT=3389 SEQ=728927993 ACK=0 WINDOW=4380 RES=0x00 SYN URGP=0 OPT (020405AC010303030101080AC3B10C630000000004020000) Oct 30 18:37:35 kernel: ACCEPT IN=ppp0 OUT=br0 MAC= SRC=118.148.x.x DST=192.168.1.30 LEN=64 TOS=0x00 PREC=0x00 TTL=248 ID=41649 DF PROTO=TCP SPT=11138 DPT=3389 SEQ=728927993 ACK=0 WINDOW=4380 RES=0x00 SYN URGP=0 OPT (020405AC010303030101080AC3B1181B0000000004020000) Oct 30 18:37:38 kernel: ACCEPT IN=ppp0 OUT=br0 MAC= SRC=118.148.x.x DST=192.168.1.30 LEN=48 TOS=0x00 PREC=0x00 TTL=248 ID=50754 DF PROTO=TCP SPT=11138 DPT=3389 SEQ=728927993 ACK=0 WINDOW=4380 RES=0x00 SYN URGP=0 OPT (020405AC04020000) - Turned off Windows Firewall/Defender- Tried using other external ports - 3389, 5150, 7777, etc- Confirmed inbound RDP is enabled on the PC- Confirmed port TCP 3389 on the PC is listening- Ran a Wireshark capture on the PC when making a connection attempt; I do not see any inbound RDP traffic at all From what I gather the inbound traffic is getting past the firewall but for some reason never arrives at the destination. I'd appreciate any advice to troubleshoot this further.

DNS on Huawei B315
I hate networking. I really do. It is finicky, unintuitive, and I don't understand it.[/rant]I am trying to change my DNS4ME setup from devices to Huawei router. There is a nice, simple page for that under LAN settings. I enter both IPs, click apply, even reboot the Huawei. So everything works, right?I wish. I assumed it did and ended up going in circles for a day because of that assumption. It doesn't do a damned thing. It looks fine, the settings are there, no error messages, nothing to indicate anything is wrong, but it doesn't bloody work!If I change the DNS per device, it works as it should, but not via the Huawei. Can anyone explain this really annoying thing to me? I saw something about it on the Spark forum but I am not on Spark and don't have a Spark SIM card and even if I did I don't understand what the problem is. Like I said, I hate networking. And just to get the obvious out of the way, no I am not using a wi-fi connection. My pc is on the LAN and according to my understanding of the Huawei settings page, the DNS settings should be working. Except they aren't.

Joining ethernet cables
I set up my home office a couple of months ago with in-wall ethernet cabling to suit. Of course, I've now shifted my office around and the ethernet jackpoints are about 2m away from where they need to be with the new configuration.I know the right answer is to run new cables all the way from the network cupboard to the new location, but that is going to be a huge PITA. The office is also likely to be reconfigured again in a year or two (this time with walls shifting), so everything I do now is only temporary anyway.I was hoping for some kind of two sided punch-down style connector I could use to join the existing run with the new extension, however all I can find are female-female jacks to join patch cables. My current thinking is to leave the existing keystone ethernet jacks where they are (albeit shifting them inside the wall) and crimping a male ethernet plug on to the additional run of cable to extend it to where it needs to be.I could just get longer patch cables, but they'd need to run around a big loop to be out of the path of foot traffic. It is easy enough to hide the additional runs in-wall so I'm looking at that solution first.Just checking to see whether there are better solutions?

When trying to use "On Demand" on Sky I get a Internet not connected. Can anyone advise what I need to do to fix this.RegardsGordon

Please suggest a setup - Amplifi vs Unifi vs other arrangement?
Hi Network gurusI have been reading a lot about my options but would appreciate if you can give me some pointers to firm up my plans. At the moment my setup goes like this:Fibre -> ONT - > Huawei 659b -> Netcomm 200 mbps Powerline (all in garage at far end of house)Netcomm 200 mbps Powerline -> TP-link router used as AP (the other end of the house) ...> TVMost of the network activity is at the end of the house away from the garage and one level up and one level down. Problem is speed one level up and one level down; and coverage one level down.I had to use Powerline as there was no easy way to run an ethernet cable between the Huawei and the TP-Link. However, I have been doing some investigations... My recent findings:The house has an underfloor crawl space from the garage a third of the way along the house. I have been crawling under the house whole morning and found that I could get an ethernet cable from the garage down there. I found that some of the telephone cables underfloor are actually Cat5E cables. I am thinking of repurposing the phone cable as we don't use landline (who does these days?). By doing that I can get ethernet to one of the phone jacks in the middle of the house (which is not accessible via the crawl space). I am considering the following two options:Option 1:Fibre > ONT -> Huawei -> Ethernet cable (including a length of repurposed phone cat5e cable) -> Amplifi router (in the middle of the house)Add One Mesh point upstairs and one mesh point downstairsPotential Problem:the TV will be streaming via wifi only. Not sure if this will be good enough. My older Mac Pro and MacBook are 802.11n only. Connectivity to the Mac pro needs to be good for work (at the moment I have a third power line and runs an ethernet cable to it). Not sure if this option will actually make it worse. Option 2:Fibre -> ONT -> Huawei -> USG -> USW (in garage) -> Ethernet cable with POEOne Unifi AP in the middle of the house ground level (splicing a ethernet cable with an existing phone cable which is Cat5e)One Unifi AP one level below (splicing a ethernet cable with an existing phone cable which is Cat5e)Potential Problem:Same as Option 1 but more expensive Any other options I should consider? Thank you in advance for any suggestions

TP Link Powerline - affecting Wifi for others?
Last night - long story - my son and I went out. He has a TP-Link AV600 Powerline to enhance his gaming, first unit is connected downstairs at router, 2nd unit is upstairs from power socket to his PC.Anyway, I unplugged the downstairs Powerline from router and we took it with us. So downstairs setup remained of fibre to modem to router. My flatmate and I pick up internet wirelessly from router. When we got home, my flatmate said he lost internet soon after we left. My son has said something similar happens at his mothers if this occurs as well.Doesn't make sense to us as to why this happens. Modem connects to router. Flatmate connects to wireless signal. When we attach the AV600, it connects router to power point, then in his room 2nd unit connects from power point to his PC. So, we would have thought the Powerline as connected purely and simply connects his PC directly to router via power lines, and not wireless - so why is other wireless in house affected?thanks

Powerline versus mesh router
Have bought a TP-Link AV600 Powerline to enhance signal from modem/router downstairs to son's gaming PC upstairs. To help to control his time on line, looking at parental control routers. Have come across mesh routers - example, Google WiFi, Netgear Orbi. If the 2nd one of these was in his room, would he get the same or better or worse signal to his PC when playing? Intuitively, one may think the Powerline, but a quick look on net indicates that the signal that the Powerlines say on box - in this case 600Mbps - in real life are nothing near it - and my brother also says signal latency from Powerline will be affected as going through old power lines in house. Even if signal a little slower, mesh router could be preferred due to parental controls and ability for me to control remotely via router app.thanks

Router Problems - Spark Huawei HG659b
This topic has been discussed before but mine is slightly different so I thought I would ask here in the hope of an answer. Got this particular router from Spark when I signed up for Fibre. And have had 5 months of trouble with it. I have noticed faster downloading but more dropouts than ever.Have a very long house so we have a switch (I think) and off of that everything else goes off round the house. Ethernet mainly. Have Wifi to our Sony smart TV (6 years old) and it is at the farthest point from the New Huawei which is in the garage. Have an old dlink which works a treat set up as a bridge? repeater? (not sure of the term) but it ensures we get wireless down the other end of the house. The Bravia TV is about 3 -4 metres and 1 wall away and usually doesn't have much problem connecting with the D Link. Now: TV aside which doesn't connect to Huawei directly, we have had problems several evenings a week with devices being unable to pick up the Huawei signal despite the devices being located 3 or 4 metres away through a wall.Spark says the problems are due to devices not the router but: New Apple Imac close by doesn't consistently receive signal but can get the signal relayed from the old DLink fairly consistently several rooms away3 yr old Xiaomi Mipad shows strong signal from 4 meters away but nothing downloads 0 - 2 kbs?? not sure of measurement and lack of Wan can go on for 1/2 a day at a time. Happens most days. Newish Microsoft Surface has no problems from anywhere in the house, neither does 3 yr old xiaomi miphone. Although on 2 occasions down the far end of the house the signal to the Surface has dropped out completely.HP desktop 5 meters and a wall away is spotty. The Sony Bravia shows the Huawei with very strong signal but even in the same room will not connect with it.The problem is mainly in the early to mid evening but can occur any time.I have changed the channels a couple of times but no difference is found. Don't think it is the old D link as everything works off it and for quite a distance.I nothing about networking and LANs etc.But we have been reduced to mirroring Netflix on the TV using Bravia's ? Bluetooth? Whatever. So my assessment, the router is not good.... the last Huawei one wasn't great either but this is a lot worse.Specific questions - Why will the Huawei not send to the TV when it is picking it up as having a strong signal? Could the TV be configured wrong or need a software update? The Huawei is across the garage from the energy company smart meter, do you think they are interfering with each other?Do you think it has anything to do with the switch? That's probably 5 or 6 years old. I tried a plug in booster repeater amplifier thing and it made no difference. Also can someone tell me, should the primary and secondary DNS in my Bravia be the same addresses as in my router? At one stage, the TV said I should put in a static route (I assume this is like a fixed IP address?). If so, what address would this be - where would I find it and would it mean I couldn't easily switch between the D link and Huawei whenever the signal wanes?Any help at all would be great.N

ATV 4K Randomly Dropping Internet
Hoping someone can help with this problem I'm having. Here's my home network to set the scene.Spark VDSL using the HG659B. I'm not using an VPN or Smart DNS services and all settings on the HG659B are as per Sparks settings. The only change from standard is that Wifi is disabled on the router and LAN 1 passes to a switch and onto a UAP AC Pro for all wireless duties. I've had no issues with this set-up for the year I've been in this house.Recently picked up an ATV 4K for the lounge room. This is connected directly to LAN 2 on the HG659B purely for convenience as they are right next to each other and away from the switch. This works fine for the most part but it randomly drops connection from the internet. When the ATV drops internet nothing else in the house is impacted. All other wired or wifi clients keep trucking along as if nothing has happened. Sometimes a simple reboot of the ATV will sort it and at other times I need to reboot the router then the ATV to get it working again.Any thoughts on what could be causing this?Cheers

HDMI over cat 6
This post is specific to an idea I got from this thread https://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=151&topicid=242521 I'm starting a new thread to keep it tidy.Essentially what I'm going to do it this.1. Use my PC to stream TV via on-demand websites. 2. Output to a 3rd screen, that 3rd screen being a TV in another room.3. I'll use my existing unused HDMI output from my GTX 751ti graphics card.I want to send it via my cat6 port to my TV via the hub in the garage using something like this. https://www.pbtech.co.nz/product/KVMLNK1002/LENKENG-LKV372A-HDMI-extender-kit-over-single-Cat6My questions are:1. Where my computer is there is only one cat6 port. Can I split this somehow?2. As this will go to my hub, will the 60m range take into account all the ethernet cables in my walls? ie; considered wires to unused rooms?3. Will sound travel via this even when I've also got speakers connected to my PC?4. Could I add an additional receiver to another room and pick it up there too?5. With Windows 10 and with 3 screens can I have screens 1 & 2 show one image and screen 3 be a second screen so to speak? Also keen to hear any feedback from someone who has done this.

Edge Router randomly "losing" IPv6 on 2degrees fibre
Hi guys, I've been a long time lurker here at GZ but this is my first post, so hello! I have a Ubiquiti EdgeRouter Lite router using 2degrees fibre on the latest stable firmware (1.10.7). I've got a static allocation (both IPv4 and IPv6) from 2degrees and when on ADSL it was rock solid (though very slow). Since switching to the ERLite and fibre I keep hitting an issue where IPv6 stops working. By that I mean I can't ping6 out from the LAN or the router, and inbound traffic never reaches the hosts. To fix it I disable/enable IPv6, or delete and reload the IPv6 firewall, and doing so fixes it for a while (where a while could be a few hours, or a few days, but it always stops working again). Googling around I found a few instances of people having similar issues (can't post links yet sorry but found a few) but none of them seem relevant to me (some were fixed by upgrading the firmware, some found things in the logs that I haven't etc). Here's my config:ubnt@router# show interfaces ethernet eth0duplex autospeed autovif 10 { description "Internet (PPPoE)" pppoe 0 { default-route auto dhcpv6-pd { pd 0 { interface eth1 { host-address ::1 prefix-id :1 service slaac } interface eth2 { host-address ::1 prefix-id :2 service slaac } prefix-length /56 } prefix-only rapid-commit enable } firewall { in { ipv6-name WANv6_IN name WAN_IN } local { ipv6-name WANv6_LOCAL name WAN_LOCAL } } ipv6 { enable { } } mtu 1492 name-server auto password xxxx user-id xxxx@snap.net.nz }} And here is the relevant firewall (with IPv6 addresses slightly obfuscated), this is as it came out of the box with only the SSH rule added by me: ubnt@router# show firewall ipv6-nameipv6-name WANv6_IN { default-action drop description "WAN inbound traffic forwarded to LAN" enable-default-log rule 10 { action accept description "Allow established/related sessions" state { established enable related enable } } rule 20 { action drop description "Drop invalid state" state { invalid enable } } rule 30 { action accept description "pipsqueek IPv6 ssh access" destination { address 2406:e001:dead:beef::3 port 22 } protocol tcp }}ipv6-name WANv6_LOCAL { default-action drop description "WAN inbound traffic to the router" enable-default-log rule 10 { action accept description "Allow established/related sessions" state { established enable related enable } } rule 20 { action drop description "Drop invalid state" state { invalid enable } } rule 30 { action accept description "Allow IPv6 icmp" protocol ipv6-icmp } rule 40 { action accept description "allow dhcpv6" destination { port 546 } protocol udp source { port 547 } }} I didn't think to try a tcpdump looking for icmp6 while it is "broken" to see if packets are actually making it out the router, but will do so when it next breaks. So - can anyone spot anything obvious I'm missing? What logs should I be looking at when it dies? Having it die every few hours/days is driving me crazy... P.S I originally couldn't even get IPv6 working but that turned out to be a Chorus/ONT issue, so I've been fighting IPv6 on and off now for about two months EDIT: And it just died again. Running a tcpdump on the router and pinging from a host on the LAN I can see packets going out pppeo0 but never getting a reply.

Rural broadband, no initiative in my area - self help possible?
Hi all!As a long time lurker, but first poster, i have read as much as i can about maximizing my connection speed, and utilized 8 different ADSL modems of different brands, but at 5.4Km's from the exchange I realise I'm a borderline distance from feasible ADSL anyway.RBI on chorus map totally ignores my small coastal village, and the exchange [Glenbrook] is listed as BUBA, which only lets me synch on g.dmt @ 1024/480 on a 6/13SNR synch, though the snr climbs to 7.5-8 over very little time [cant synch better with 5SNR or at all with lower].ItemDescriptionProduct NameSmartAX MT882Physical Address00:1b:9e:f1:2e:0eSoftware ReleaseV100R002B021 VODAFONEFirmware Release3.7.9.98Batch NumberRTC20P0.021.37998Release Date2009/09/24ADSLDescriptionADSL StateShow TimeData PathInterleavedOperation ModeG.dmtMax. What should I upgrade to get better speed?
HiI have Spark Fibre100 but on a SpeedTest I only get 38 Mbps down and 12 Mbps up. This is far cry from what the Fibre is theorectically capable of. I am thinking about upgrading the equipment to get the most out of the Fibre, but preferably in a piece meal fashion so not to spend a large chunk of money in one go.Current set up:ONT -> Huawei HG659b (Wifi AP disabled, used as a router / wired switch only) -> Unifi AC LR in the middle of the house. The above speed test was done using Wifi on my iPhone standing right next to the Unifi AC LR.Also from the above HG659b:(1) to a 10/100 Powerline Ethernet adaptor via powerline to another 10/100 Powerline Ethernet adaptor -> TV(2) to an old HP Laser Jet JetDirect network card(3) to an old HP OfficeJet So to get better speed to better utilise the Fibre100, shall I:(1) Swap the Huawei for an EdgeRouter ER X, with Eth1-Eth4 put on Switch0 to connect the Unifi (via PoE), the two printers and the Powerline?(2) Get a switch to put between the Huawei HG659b and the various bits (Unifi, printers and powerline)(3) Change some settings somewhere on my Unifi or Huawei? What kind of speed should I be expecting with an optimised setup, using Fibre100? Thanks

What decent router to buy for a 145m2 house
Hi there,Atm I am using a vodafone provided router, but we are using an extender as the range isn't good enough to go through the whole house. The house is around 145m2, so it will be in the roof but want very good coverage round the whole house. What would you guys recommend? Not sure what brand to go for? I am looking for one with at least a dual band but triband is even better as well as 2.4 and 5Ghz too, we are using fibrex so something that supports vlan tagging would be needed. Guest networking is a must as well. Would prefer one with a very good update history, so one that is gonna be updated for quite a few years. ThanksAny more info let me know and happy to provide :)

Using a modem router as a wireless repeater
I have a small collection of unused wifi modem routers and I would like to set one of them up as a wireless repeater to boost my wifi signal upstairs. (Yes, I know running ethernet cable up there is the easier solution (I've already done this out to my shed) but there are practical difficulties with the borked layout of my house and where my fiber box is. I also know you can buy hardware to do exactly this but I'd rather use use something I already have rather than create more future landfill.)So I'm with Bigpipe UFB and my principal router is a Huawei HG659 (ex-Vodafone but now with Bigpipe firmware - which seems to be un-rebadged Huawei ware). The other routers I have are:another HG659 (also with Bigpipe firmware)two SHG1500s (Sercomm)that vodafone seem to have locked down pretty tight TP-Link TD-W8960N3Com WL-552 3CRWDR101A-75a tinny little old Belkin something-or-otherThe 3Com has a WDS function, which would identify up my WLAN but not connect. I think it only works with identical or similar routers.I though that the bridging function on the HG659s might be the answer but I couldn't figure it out.Any help would be much appreciated.

Amplifi 5Ghz Weirdness
About a month ago I purchased the Amplifi base unit, with the intent to add a satellite at a later date. I added that satellite to my lounge last week. The setup was simple and fast, and by all accounts it is all working fine.....except that 5Ghz is super slow. 2.4Ghz is giving me really good speeds (up to the usual 2.4Ghz limits) but when I do a speed test on 5Ghz I'm only getting around 3-10Mbps up and down. Has anyone experienced this? Any tips about resolving it?The Amplifi is using 2x SSIDs - one for 5Ghz and one for 2.4Ghz. The satellite is not showing it's own SSID (by design).
