I have my Orbi RBR 50 connected to the Orcon router as an access point with one satellite and it has been working great for a long time however of late the satellite has began dropping the network. The Netgear App reports that the satellite is not available. I have tried teh following...1. Ensured all Wifi radios are turned off on the Orcon router to eliminate interference.2. Repositioned the Satellite and reconnected.3. Reset the router and resynced the satellite.4. Esured the Orbi router and satellite are using the latest firmware.5. checked signal strength including strength of any neighboring wifi units to eliminate interference.6. Ensured the units are well ventilated.7. Ensured the units are not located near devices that could cause interference e.g microwave oven.Other than that I am at a loss as to what could be causing the issue. I had not made any changes in settings etc before this started. When the satellite reconnects with or without intervention the speed and signal strength is very good. Does anyone have any ideas?Cheers

UFB install completed - Advice on Switches and an additional AP
Hi allModem NF18ACVOur fibre install is now all done, so i have a few questionsWe have a few old switches in various rooms 10/100 mbps I thinkShould i be updating these, I have a feeling these will possibly be a bottleneck, but then again i'm not sure if i have confused my bits, bytes and nibblesand if I am updating just a small cheapy switch should be fine? Also AP, newer devices work perfectly at the far end of the house but some of the old ones are a bit hopeless leading to a grumpy daughter, i do have an old airport extreme (2nd Gen) which could possibly do the job, or should i look at some time in the future getting an extender for that end of the house, I do have ethernet down there. Thanks in advance

Reset a Truenet DLink router
I have a Truenet supplied Dlink DIR615 router that I pulled out from a draw over the weekend and figured Id get the thing reset so I could use it elsewhere. I'm pretty sure Truenet stated that we could reset them and install latest firmware to get it back to "factory" but for the life of me I cannot get a response out of the thing. It shows up on my network, but I cant connect to any services on it except SSH. I've tried doing the pinhole factory reset but still nothing.......Anyone know how I can reset/flash it using SSH ? Thats assuming I can even log into it with a valid name/password.......

2degrees to Edgerouter 4 eth0 no link light
Hi There,I have been trying to resolve this and now I am stuck. Can you please review the information below and offer a second opinion if I am correct.ONT(100Mb/s and 20Mb/s with 2 degrees) ----- new 3 meter CAT 6 ---- new EdgeRouter 4 with firmware 2.0.0 --- eth0 (WAN) has no link.ER4 eth0 does not get a green light.I tried to set 100Mb/s full duplex and Auto Negotiation as well, and I just can not get the ONT to talk to the ER4 on eth0. Reset the fimrware, read the article herehttps://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=66&topicid=205740read ubnt.com forums, I am out of ideas now.I suspect the ISP end of the ethernet port need to be set to Auto negotiation for me to have a link on the ER4 eth0 !?Interestingly if I plug my ER4 eth0 ------ into any other device eth0 at home (iMac eth port or even the FritzBox eth0 port) then the ER4 eth0 link light comes on and I have a 1GB FD connection between them.show interfaces ethernet physical (shows me)WAN eth0 has Auto negotiation ON 100Mb/s and Full Duplex with NO link detected.LAN eth1 is fine 1000Mb/s FD with link I have tried three different cat 5e and cat6 cables so I assume not a faulty cable issue. If I plug the ONT into the FritzBox 7490 eth0 then I get a link from the ONT just fine.Do I have a faulty ER4 on hand ?

Recommend me my next Unifi gear - Gateway or Switch?
Hey all, so I have been running a Unifi A/P for a few years now, been generally happy with it, but have become more so with some recent placement changes and the addition of a second A/P giving fast WiFi all around the house (and garden, driveway, neighbors house, etc.)Apart from tweaks like transmit power (which require some more understand on my part) I am now deciding what to upgrade next. Current network is:Gigagbit UFBUntangle router (custom PC, quad core AMD, 8GB RAM, dual Intel GB Nic's)3COM Managed GB switchI also have the 2 Unifi A/P's and 3 Dahua cameras, various wired and wireless devices. So, options are:1) Get a Unifi Gateway (pro?) and move the Untangle to be in Bridge mode (so it still does ad-blocking, email scanning, etc. i.e. lots of things the Unifi doesn't)2) Get a Unifi switch and fix all the powerbricks I have on the 5 potential PoE devicesAny options as to what to go for first? I am leaning towards a switch (the US-16-150W) as it will solve a problem (power bricks and Poe Injectors). Then get the gateway to 'complete' the network and get that nice 'single pane of glass' view.Any opinions on the switch? Is it noisy? This is a home environment. Anything I should be aware of integrating the switch? PoE issues or settings? FYI my controller is currently local (running on a Mac, something else I need to change, but later).

HiveOS Download Access
Would anyone here mind downloading a version of HiveOS from Aerohive for me? I've got some secondhand APs that's I've configured via the CLI but I'm having some intermittent issues with DHCP on some devices. There was a fix in a previous update so I'm hoping that's what I'm seeing.Because I'm not an Aerohive customer I can't access their download pages.I'm looking for the latest firmware for AP121 and AP141, which I believe is HiveOS 6.5r11.Thanks!

ipv4 ipv6 and the Huawei HG659
Excuse the possibly stupid question, but the ubiquitous HG659 router has a well known limit on the number of devices it will support before it starts misbehaving. It seems there is a limit of 16 devices on each of the 2.4 and 5GHz wifi bands.I dont physically have quite that many devices - though its getting close and I have been having an issue just recently with a media player so have had a look at the router and 'devices' it knows about.I saw a few 'items' that I suspect might be the ipv6 addresses of some devices that also use ipv4.Obviously I dont need to be using ipv6 internally - but I suppose newer devices would come with both ipv4 and ipv6 enabled. So my question is - 'Does a device that has ipv4 and ipv6 enabled actually count as 2 devices on this router'?

Recommend or Point Me a Network Setup I can use ..
Hi There I use the computer room for all my network termination points , with a 16 port switch under the desk , I soon will have Fiber in the house , and ONT will be in the computer room , as that IS the best solution , and the "computer room". Whilst I dont think I need a comms cabient , maybe a large board on the wall technique with gear bolted vertically. P.S I will be putting a double gang powerpoint in , as ONT will have its own powerpoint.I,m open to ideas/what you guys have .. some ideas would be great to spur some inspriation into me :) Thanks for any replys.

Need a USB adaptor for 5g modem
HI all, I'm a bit of an amateur when it comes to networking (almost clueless) I always thought the reason my WiFi speed was only 50mbs compared to the 200mbs when I used a cable was because that was the max speed he router could do over the wireless, but I have recently discovered that the router also casts a 5g signal which of course allows the full 200mbs I can get (I'm on Vodafone fibre-x 200-50).The problem is my laptop will only detect the 2.4g signal so as far as I am aware I need one of those USB adaptors which can pick up the 5g and put into the laptop.I am wondering where I can get one of these cheap and what I need to look for when buying one? My computer runs windows 7 64bit. I have found some on the PB tech website whicheck I think will work but they are about $35 and thought they might be cheaper on aliexpress or some other site?

ASUS DSL-AC68U with Voyager Internet
Hi, I have moved from 2degrees fibre connection to Voyager Internet Fibre 200.ASUS DSL-AC68U router was working fine on 2degrees. (Yes RT version would be better choice , but have LAN 1 as WAN set)Now on Voyager Internet I cannot get settings correct to get good speeds. 30Mbs max , and can't connect to some sites.Using 3 other test routers no problem 190Mbs ethernet Voyager.Has anyone had good success with this modem router on Voyager internet.Voyager help desk looked at my settings remotely and could not see a problem with my settings , but they did note my slow download speed.Plugged their test router into my ONT and it worked fine. So maybe this ASUS router not compatible with Voyager network ?

Wifi testing tools - ChromeOS / Android
Can anyone recommend any wifi testing tools for ChromeOS or Android? My wifi is fine, I'm just playing around to learn something new. I have a new Pixelbook and Cambium e400 WAPs. Both have 5GHz 2x2 AC.When I set the channel width to 40MHz, I connect (theoretically I think) at 400 Mbps. Output of network_diag --wifi includes: tx bitrate: 400.0 MBit/s VHT-MCS 9 40MHz short GI VHT-NSS 2rx bitrate: 400.0 MBit/s VHT-MCS 9 40MHz short GI VHT-NSS 2 When I set the channel width to 80MHz, I get the theoretical max of 867 Mbps. network_diag --wifi again: tx bitrate: 866.7 MBit/s VHT-MCS 9 80MHz short GI VHT-NSS 2rx bitrate: 866.7 MBit/s VHT-MCS 9 80MHz short GI VHT-NSS 2 I appreciate that the wider channel width is more likely to be subject to interference and therefore have real-world poorer performance. I'm keen on figuring out whether that is the case for me and the wifi environment surrounding my house. The Cambium APs do have a wifiperf endpoint built in, and Cambium suggests testing with Ruckus' Speedflex app. I can get that to work on my phone but not on my Chromebook so suspect it's not fully compatible. Any other suggested testing solutions?Again, emphasising that my wifi is actually fine right now, real-world constraints will be upstream etc., I'd just like to learn more about this stuff because, well, geek.

Innbox V50U Home Gateway Port Forwarding Problem
Hi! Anyone used Innbox V50U Home Gateway for Port Forwarding?I am setting up the new Minecraft server on a small computer called Raspberry PI. I have installed the server on Raspberry PI and it works correctly when I try to connect via local IP address. Now, I wanna make it public. I installed Firewall on Raspberry PI and opened port 25565. On my Innbox V50U Home Gateway I configured Port Forwarding (Advanced Setup -> NAT -> Virtual Servers) for port 25565 (External Port Start: 25565, External Port End: 25565, Protocol: TCP/UDP, Internal Port Start: 25565, Internal Port End: 25565), and configured Port Triggering (Advanced Setup -> NAT -> Port Triggering) for port 25565 (TRIGGER: Protocol: TCP/UDP, PORT RANGE: Start: 25565 End 25565 | OPEN: Protocol: TCP/UDP, PORT RANGE: Start: 25565 End: 25565). Then I used service http://www.portchecktool.com/ to see if my port is successfully forwarded and - I get the error "Problem! I could not see your service on ------------- on port (25565)". I tried the NO-IP service, but it didn't work, too. When I try to conncet with my minecraft client it shows "Conncetion Refused: No further information" error. Can anyone help me?

ASUS RT-AC86U and Spark Fibre
I bought a ASUS RT-AC86U last year and was getting random Internet drops every few days or so. I tried upgrading firmware from ASUS and Merlin to no avail. I took the router back and they replaced it. I configured it, upgraded to the latest ASUS firmware and was happy for a few days and bang same thing. Random Internet drop.Since then I've used the standard Spark router and it's never dropped at all.I like the ASUS router and it has great wireless coverage. But the drop outs are annoyingAny ideas would be great. I've seen articles referring to DNS, DHCP etc but nothing concreteThanks in advance

Rogue IP address associated with Vodafone Ultra Hub
Having just received a Vodafone Ultra Hub and have set it up with static wireless IP's on the first thirty addresses.I do not use LAN and have DCHP turned off. After running a network check I now noticed that there is a rouge address 192.168.1.227.Not knowing at the time I blocked the address and it reappeared at address 192.168.1.111.I have traced it to being used by the Ultra Hub and I believe it is associated with the 5GHz band although I have 5GHz it turned off.The MAC number is nowhere to be seen on the modem menus.Does anyone know what this is and how to get rid of it.Thanks Jose
