Having recently changed to spark fibre we are having even more problems with peak time traffic than we did on ADSL. A little research shows the Huawei H659B does not do wifi very well, atleast not consistently, and not in larger houses.Because of this I opted to get the highly regarded Asus RT-N56U, I initially tried setting it up, having changed to bridging mode on the Spark modem, however, it was not playing ball, the Asus did not like the IP it was being assigned.Having read some more I found that some firmware versions on the Asus should vlan tagging and thus being able to connect directly to the ONT. So I gave it a go last night, and sure enough, after a little playing, the router could supposedly see the internet, the problem was my devices could not see the internet, nor connect to a known network. My PC, connected via ethernet was supposedly on an unknown network, despite configuring the LAN settings on the Asus. My daughter "needed" the internet, so I stopped there and will continue again this weekend, but has anyone else successfully got an RT-N56U on to an ONT without issue? and if so was there any secrets or hurdles? I'm hoping it might just be some setting I am missing, I don't really want to have to try a bunch of firmware until I get what should be available on all firmware. Thanks
