Huawei HG630b Port Forwarding for IP CCTV NVR
Help! Anyone here familiar with getting Port forwarding working on a Huawei HG630b router? I need some ports forwarded so I can get remote access to an NVR for an IP CCTV system. Have set up port mapping as below to the Internal host IP of the NVR (it appears to have a Static IP address) but when I check from my laptop to see if the ports show open using a couple of different check port forwarding tools they dont show as openIf some kind soul could check what I have done and tell me what I am doing wrong would greatly appreciate that!

Lan Testers - What do they test?
Hey Guys So we had a flatmate recently move in and I gave him the wifi password as well as told him for best results he can use the Lan Jackpoint anyway he told me that he just ended up using the wifi for his laptop he said he was having issues with the LAN. I am kinda curious as I installed the CAT 6 cable and jackpoint myself. I haven't got a long enough ethernet cable to test it myself so I just used my LAN Tester and it's passing so I don't see what the issue could be I tested it with a actual computer after I installed it and it was getting good speeds. I know the issue could be something to do with his PC. My question is how reliable are the testers? if it passes a test I suppose that doesn't mean that their could be a intermittent fault with the cable? I kinda want to ask him to connect his laptop with the cable again and run a speed test or something so I can see for myself what the issue he had was.... Thanks

Netgear 1600 fibre compatible?
I'm sorry for such a basic question, but after searching online I'm still a bit unsure. It turns out I can get Fibre cheaper than ultra VDSL from Voyager (current ISP). Before I ask for the switch I just need to check if my modem router is capable of fibre or if I need a new one (search brings up adsl / vdsl). Any info would be greatly appreciated. Oh and I also have a static IP if that makes any difference? Thanks

Lost key for NAS disks :( What now?
Have a QNAP TS453 Pro now just over three years old, most of that time spent in a rarely visited spare bedroom/storeroom. NAS has four 6TB WB Red disks in it, one of which has developed problems (just past the 3 year warranty limit of course!). Bought new replacement disk and went to install it, then realised that required a key to remove the faulty one. Alas, have no idea where the key ended up. Have searched all the likely places to no avail. Seems likely it was left in the original packaging but have not yet found any trace of the packing (quite possibly ended up in the recycling at some point). Is there a non-damaging way of replacing the faulty key without the key? Locksmith?

Two subnets on home network with different DNS
I have my main home network with a Fritzbox on 192.168.1.0/24 using ISP supplied DNS with a subnet mask 255.255.255.0. I would like to add a D-Link DIR615 which gives out IP addresses on the 192.168.0.0/24 network using a different internet based DNS server (eg CloudFlare's 1.1.1.1 or Google's 8.8.4.4) but routes via the Fritzbox as the gateway. I also have a Linksys 54GL which can run DD-WRT or similar, which tends to be pretty flexible. When I set up the D-Link as 192.168.0.1 and told it to use the Fritzbox gateway 192.168.1.1 it told me I couldn't use a gateway on another network.Any suggestions?Update: all I really want is devices connected to this new WAP to use a different DNS server.

NAS - Fritz Box
Hi folks,I have a fritz box with a single USB on the rear. I currently have a single TB HDD plugged in as a NAS. But I have two other HDD's one 500gb the other one TB, I am thinking of buying a USB dock to extend the USB ports to plug all three in and configure as NAS. The question I have before I buy them is does anyone know if the fritz box 7490 can allow for multiple USB's connected via splitter for multiple HDd's?

Using wireless router as a separate LAN
Hi there,I am trying to create a separate network with WiFi connected to my main network at home for guests.I have a spare wireless router (Netcomm NF5) that I would like to plug into my main router and use a couple of cabled ports as well as the wireless from that router. Is this possible through configuration? I've had a quick scan regarding VLANs but networking isn't really my strength and some of it goes right over my head. Any help would be appreciated! CheersFabian

Setting technicolor 589vn v2 modem to bridge/modem only for Amplifi
Hi All, I just bought the Amplify HD mesh setup, but until Fibre arrives I need to use my Spark technicolor 589vn v2 as a bridge/modem only on our vdsl connection. I tried putting it into bridge mode, and it showed a DSL connection, but the Amplifi/wired clients could not connect to the internet...any advice on how to set up this modem as a bridge to the Amplifi router would be much appreciated.

Advice on 10GBE between switches, server & 2 x Workstations...
Noob to 10Gb stuff, but think I understand the basics.I have some wuestions regarding compatibility of the pci-e cards needed for the server and workstations, if anyone has had a bit of experience with this stuff please...I look after a Church that does quite a bit of video production, and am looking at getting the two main workstations decent access to the Raid5 SAS array that is on the server, some 25m away in the rack. With some help, I think I've sussed out the switch hardware, as follows...Core/Distribution - 2x Aruba OC1950 12XGT 4SFP+ Switches, each with: 12x 10GbE RJ45 Copper Ports & 4x 10GbE SFP+ Fibre Ports. (2x SFP+ DAC Cables to form them up as an aggregated pair). The plan from there is to use this pair to connect the two other switches, the server and the two workstations. 2x Aruba OC1850 48G 4XGT switches each with 4x 10GbE RJ45 Copper Ports & 48x 1GbE RJ45 Copper Ports (2x RJ45 10G Connections to Core - 1 to each OC1950, Link Aggregated to 20Gb). For the server and the workstations, these dual port 10Gb pci-e adapters have been suggested, and I'm just not sure about their compatibility, never actually having used 10Gb stuff before... hoping someone might have. SuperMicro 7048R-C1R4+ Server - 1 x StarTech PEX20000SFPI with 2x 10GbE SFP+ Ports (DAC Connected to each OC1950 using SFP+ (Link Aggregated to 20Gb).Workstations (2) - 2x StarTech ST20000SPEXI with 2x 10GbE RJ45 Copper Ports (Cat6 connected and Link Aggregated to 20Gb, 1 Connection to each OC1950). I've had a look at some Dell X540-T2 cards on ebay and they (while 2nd-hand) would save me about $700, but I'm not sure about compatibility. I see Intel lists Win10 drivers for their version of the card, and hope that the Dell one would accept the driver from Intel.

New Fibre and now need to sort out WiFi
Looking for some advice.I have finally got my fibre installed and now have gigabit internet. This goes to a Spark HG659b router right down the end of my house by the TV. From there I have structured cabling back to the office at the other end of my house and also from the office to the bedroom. I have TVs, game consoles and Android TV spread between the two and I am keen for good WiFi throughout the house. The Wifi from the HG659 does not reach to the other end of the house and so I setup another HG659b (they keep sending them) as an AP down in the office following the instructions on another thread here, disabled DHCP, give it an IP outside of the fibre router DHCP range and plugging LAN port to LAN port to the fibre router. That worked OK for a while but every now and then it seems to stop working and instead of a web page I get the old router page telling me I need to connect to the internet. Refreshing the page a few times seems to solve it but clearly using the router just as a WiFi AP is not ideal. So unless there is an easy fix, I was thinking about getting some of the Ubiquiti WiFi kit but I had a few questions.1. Which Access points are best? Is it still the Unifi UAP-AC-Pro? IS that overkill?2. If I get two am I right in thinking that I get one complete WiFi and the APs will hand off the connection to my mobile/tablet etc as I walk from one end of the house to the other?3. I was going to get a Gigabit switch down the office/bedroom end of the house for cabling directly some TVs, consoles etc and to connect the AP but should I just get a Ubiquiti Switch with PoE?4. Is the HG659b good enough for me on fibre or am I best going fully Ubiquiti and if so what router should I get?It sounds like the Ubiquiti stuff just works and I have had enough messing around with WiFi in the house that I want to get this right this time. It seems like setting up with the Geekzone Community UniFi CLoud Controller by @michaelmurfy is my best bet.Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.

Port forwarding ASUS DSL-AC68U to KNX home automation
Hi
I can't seem to open the ports I need to connect to my home automation remotely. I have followed everything the router manual says and can see the ports required in the port forwarding list. But cant see the ports open when using canyourseeme.org
I have opened ports before and haven't come across this problem.
Thanks

Unifi AP location roof space vrs under the house.
Dear All,I'm thinking about getting a dedicated wifi AP to replace the vodafone modem version as its in a network cupboard so the signal is only ok in the lounge and zero on the deck.I see the Unifi brand is well thought of and as I have an unused run of cat6 cable under the house already connected at one end to the network cabinet, I was wondering whether there are any downsides to placing an AP under the house? 1918 villa almost all wooden. One thought would be the AP is expecting to be attached to the ceiling so is looking for connections under it so would mean I might have to workout how to install it upside down so its looking for signal up through the floor. Alternatively what about place the AP on a wall ?(currently have the pest controllers in for rodents in the roof space) Thanks.A.

Metanoia V5311 VDSL SFP + Mikrotik
I am testing a Metanoia V5311 SFP and I have not been able to get it working. Everything seems to be in order and I have consulted multiple sources (including @michaelmurphy guide) but it just won't connect. The logs say initialising, connecting, terminated/disconnected. I have called InspireNet and they report no auth attempts showing at their end.I have setup a PPPoE client on Vlan 10 and this vlan-10 is tied to interface SFP 1.So far, this is the most complicated and least (well basically none) documented VDSL modem I have ever come across. A Google shows several other people asking about it but getting no substantial replies.I'm hoping that someone here may have a solution or a sample config please.
